Mc Gee was influenced by the African and Asian aesthetic, simplistic shapes and attention to detail. His innovative use of fabric such as men pocketing fabric which he loved to paint ethnic designs on for women’s skirts and dress, and men’s tailoring fabrics for women’s wear. His designs were timeless and unique as Mr. Arthur Mitchell of the Dance Theater of Harlem stated, “Arthur’s designs are elegant, great fitting, relaxed with great style that always had the individual wearer in mind. His choice of fine suiting material for two piece outfits always elicits wonderful comments from everyone that sees me in a McGee original.”
